The Inspiration of Chartres

Jill Geoffrion in conversation with Lauren Artress

Listen in as Veriditas founder Rev. Dr. Lauren Artress and Rev. Jill K. H. Geoffrion, PhD, DD discuss how the Chartres Cathedral has inspired and shaped their life work. Since her first visit in 1991, Lauren has led workshops, trainings, and pilgrimages centered on her love for the Chartres Labyrinth. Her experience of the labyrinth inspired her to develop canvas labyrinths, install replicas at Grace Cathedral, and found Veriditas to ‘pepper the planet’ with labyrinths and promote facilitator training.

Chartres Cathedral grounds Jill through beauty, community, theology expressed through art, and the prayers left by centuries of pilgrims. Jill spends at least three months in Chartres each year, daily praying, studying, and photographing in the cathedral. Her most recent work, Visions of Mary, Art, Devotion, and Beauty at Chartres Cathedral, combines stunning images and historical insights. In this one-hour webinar, Lauren and Jill share how beauty, mystery, depth, and wonder are infused in the stained-glass windows, sculpture, architecture, and labyrinth of Chartres Cathedral.

This webinar is a preview of the Veriditas Pilgrimage on the Treasures of the Labyrinth and Chartres Cathedral June 10-14, 2024, with Jill Geoffrion and hosted by Lauren Artress.
